Gianni is an Iron Man!

Special Spaces room makevover for GianniGianni is a happy and resilient 8 year old boy that is battling leukemia. He was diagnosed in June of 2012 and after spending a week in the hospital he proclaimed he was an “Iron Man!” He has been strong throughout his battle.

Gianni has an amazing family including four siblings that has rallied around him in order to help him fight cancer. The oldest, Ian, not only is Gianni’s hero but he is our hero, serving our country as a United States Marine. His brother, Lucas (15), sister Adrianna (5), and brother Nico (2) are there for him every day in their Long Island home. Their family was referred to our local chapter by a friend. Once we spoke with Gianni’s mother we knew that we had to do this room.

We were so excited to get started! Gianni loves the Avengers, Star Wars and Legos! Our rooms are always created around the wishes and dreams of the child! This room was going to be special! We didn’t know how special until we found out that the Today Show wanted to be a part of Gianni’s room.

We were blessed to have Al Roker, Natalie Morales and Willies Geist as our volunteers for the day. Special Spaces relies on all volunteers to build our rooms so they fit right in alongside our volunteer Directors from across the country. They were so hard working and such a great team to work with. We could have never finished on time without their help and support. Thank you so much Team Today Show!

We can’t do it all with the efforts of our volunteers. We need the support of generous donors who make cash and in-kind donations. We would appreciate if you could help us build Gianni’s room. Your donation makes you part of the team that built his dream room.
